 IMPULSE

  • Push players into surrounding lasers with pulse waves

Impulse was a game made within 24hrs. Its a top down 4 player couch co-op game, which is a fun, fast pace intense party game. The aim is to push the other players into the lasers around the edge and on the solid cubes. Players can dash around firing pulse waves and releasing gigantic pulse bombs which pushes and interacts with other pulses and players to create a crazy game play experience. If two impulse bombs hit each other they create another red bomb that can pushed around the map by other players. It expands until it hits a player.

  • Level design – Blocks for cover and lasers around the edges to defeat players
  • Mechanic design – pulse push, pulse bomb and interactive red bomb which is created when two pulse bombs collide, it can be pushed around the map and it expands until it hits a player.

When designing the game having four players all interacting with each other became very hectic. To combat this we tried to make each player stand out from each other using colour. The level design was also restructured to be symmetrical with lasers pointing into the centre so its balanced and allows players to be caught out close to the centre.
